The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) is a leading member based, for purpose organisation. We provide programs and services that strengthen over 400 community radio and independent media organisations.

With over five million listeners each week, community radio plays a vital role in providing a voice for multicultural, First Nations and other underrepresented groups, as well as supporting independent and emerging musicians, and communities not adequately serviced by other media services.

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) is seeking a highly competent IT and Broadcast Manager to lead our technology operations. This specialised role requires strong IT management expertise, with an understanding of broadcast technology being highly valued. You’ll oversee both internal systems and the 24/7 Community Radio Network satellite distribution service that connects community broadcasters across Australia.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Technology and Digital Innovation. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work directly with systems while managing a small technical team and external service providers.

  • Manage all internal IT operations (networks, servers, cloud services, end-user systems) and critical broadcast technology services, including the Community Radio Network and Digital Delivery Network
  • Drive infrastructure modernisation initiatives
  • Establish robust technology governance practices, develop policies, and proactively manage cybersecurity and disaster recovery plans
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and contractors
  • Lead and develop a small technical team
  • Prepare operational budget forecasting

Your success profile will include:Empty heading

  • Proven experience in technology management roles with a successful track record of developing and executing technology strategy or roadmaps.
  • Strong hands-on technical background across IT infrastructure (networks, servers, cloud computing) and enterprise applications.
  • Significant experience managing Microsoft environments, including Windows Server, SQL Server, Hyper-V, Azure, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365. Experience with CRMs (Salesforce) is highly valued.
  • Hands-on experience with networking infrastructure, ideally including Fortinet, Cisco, and Ubiquiti, with a background in managing systems across all OSI model layers.
  • Strong knowledge of IT governance and risk management frameworks, with experience implementing cybersecurity measures.
  • Experience in vendor and contract management.
  • Experience building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing technology in a broadcast, media, music or telecommunications context is highly regarded.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call responsibilities, work outside standard hours where required, and travel as needed.
