A New Era of Breakfast Begins – Ash, Issie & Elliot Wake Up Melbourne

KIIS 1011’s Ash, Issie & Elliot has woken up Melbourne with a brand-new sound, bringing a morning of joy, fresh energy, entertainment and a healthy dose of chaos to the local airwaves.

Broadcasting live from ARN’s Richmond studios for the first time, the trio officially ushered in a new era of breakfast radio for KIIS 1011, with the show’s distinctly Melbourne mix of music, sport, fashion, culture and conversation on full display.

The show kicked off with a song voted for by their listeners, the ‘Good KIISers’, This Is What You Came For by Calvin Harris and Rihanna, before first caller Suzanne celebrated her 12-year wedding anniversary with a special surprise. After revealing she and her husband would mark the occasion by watching Robbie Williams’ Live at the Albert, Suzanne walked away with tickets to see Robbie live in Melbourne later this year.

Throughout the show, Ash London, Isaac ‘Issie’ Smith and Elliot Garnaut gave listeners their first taste of what’s to come, with their chemistry and unpredictability firmly at its heart. Messages of support flooded in from listeners across Melbourne, alongside friends and family, welcoming Ash, Issie & Elliot to KIIS 1011 and celebrating their first show.

Opening the show, Ash London said: “Morning to the greatest city and the history of the world. My name is Ash London. We’ve all been working so hard behind the scenes to make this happen. We’re so happy to be here with you. Now guys, this is your show. Everybody listening out there, we’re going to call you our Good KIISers because you’re here with us and you’re here at 6:01 which means you’re hardcore.”

Elliot Garnaut said: “I feel like this has been too long in the making, guys. You know I’m a horrendous secret keeper, so to finally be here and actually have it out in the open, I can exhale… We’re going to be your new best friend, you guys. You’re in our group chat from now until the rest of eternity.”

Isaac ‘Issie’ Smith added: “Just on our text line, we’ve just had a text come in – ‘Welcome team, so exciting. Bula from Fiji’ – so not only are we in the greatest city in the world, we are now global.”

Other highlights from the first show included Ash reflecting on her journey back to radio after becoming a mother and how the highs and lows ultimately led her to now hosting breakfast radio in her hometown, Elliot revealing his The Greatest Showman-themed surprise for Hugh Jackman at Bec Harding and Andy Lee’s wedding and Isaac debuting ‘Issie’s Kid’s Quizzie’, a new segment that sees a young listener try to guess the most popular answer from a survey of 100 Melbourne kids.

Announced last month, the new show brings together three distinctly Melbourne personalities, each bringing their own perspective to the city’s highly competitive breakfast radio landscape. From Ash’s broadcasting and entertainment expertise to Issie’s elite AFL background and Elliot’s fashion and cultural credentials, the first show offered a taste of the energy, chemistry and conversation listeners can expect each morning for the rest of the year and beyond.

KIIS Breakfast with Ash, Issie & Elliot can be heard on Melbourne’s KIIS 1011 from 6am-10am weekdays, or via ARN’s free iHeart app.
