ABC audiences have seen strong growth in GfK survey 6, released today. The ABC’s overall network share has increased to 18.6% (+0.3) this survey while overall reach grew 3% to 4.893 million listeners each week.
“These results show that connection still matters. ABC Radio continues to be part of daily life for millions of Australians – trusted, curious, and close to the communities we serve.” said Director ABC Audio Ben Latimer.
It was a particularly strong survey for 702 ABC Radio Sydney, where audience share increased across all programs.
Mornings with Hamish Macdonald, who recently moved to 5 days a week with the program, saw another significant increase for the second survey in a row adding +1.5% for a 7.1% share. Meanwhile, James O’Loghlin who is currently at the helm of Afternoons also increased listening, +2.0% for a 6.4% audience share.
Drive with Chris Bath and Dom Knight and Evenings with Renee Krosch each added +0.6 for audience shares of 6.2% and 7.2% respectively.
Elsewhere across our Capital City Network, our Breakfast programs in Brisbane and Melbourne added to their audience share. Breakfast on 612 ABC Radio Brisbane with Loretta and Craig saw a 1.3% share increase this survey to a 10.1% share nudging the program into 4th overall in the market.
On 774 ABC Radio Melbourne, our Breakfast program with Bob Murphy and Sharnelle Vella added +0.9% for a share of 6.4%.
ABC Radio National Breakfast with Sally Sara also grew audience in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney and survey 6 saw ABC Radio National’s overall reach grow +7.1% nationally to over half a million Australians.
The ABC remains the undisputed #1 network for digital live streaming 27.4% and with 1.41 million listeners during S6 a +5.1% YoY increase.
