{"id":968,"date":"2024-12-12T05:28:03","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T05:28:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.radioindustrynews.com.au\/?p=968"},"modified":"2024-12-12T05:28:03","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T05:28:03","slug":"sydney-and-melbourne-no-1-in-breakfast-and-mornings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioindustrynews.com.au\/index.php\/2024\/12\/12\/sydney-and-melbourne-no-1-in-breakfast-and-mornings\/","title":{"rendered":"Sydney and Melbourne No.1 in Breakfast and Mornings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-41013b65399ead2ae6becdaa14c2ca7d\"><strong>TOTAL RADIO\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nine Radio has cemented its dominance in 2024, topping the key Breakfast and Mornings shifts in Sydney and Melbourne, as revealed in today\u2019s GfK Radio 360 Survey 8.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2GB is Sydney\u2019s No.1 Talk station with a 11.8 share with\u00a0<strong>Ben Fordham\u00a0<\/strong>No.1 in Breakfast, posting a commanding 15.1 share (up 2.8) and\u00a0<strong>Ray Hadley<\/strong>\u00a0concluding his legendary 43-year career as the outright No.1 in Mornings with a 13.7 share (up 2.6).<\/p>\n<p>In Melbourne,\u00a0<strong>Ross and Russ<\/strong>\u00a0continue their winning streak as No.1 in Breakfast with a 20.0 share, and\u00a0<strong>Tom Elliott\u00a0<\/strong>solidifying his No.1 spot in Mornings with 15.6.<\/p>\n<p>The station overall remains unbeatable, achieving a 13.6 share \u2013 more than two points ahead of its nearest rival.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Nine Radio\u2019s Head of Content,\u00a0<strong>Greg Byrnes<\/strong>, said: \u201cWe finish the year like we started, with the clear number one Breakfast and Morning shows in Sydney and Melbourne!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201c3AW has a unique relationship with the city of Melbourne and we thank listeners for embracing our new lineup in 2024 and making the station so strong. The market has never been tougher in Sydney but 2GB has recorded big audience increases right across the day and is the clear number one on weekdays.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-81508f7e8696faa6baa396d48e922796\">\u201cI\u2019m also really pleased for the team at 6PR where we\u2019ve had impressive gains and Millsy and Karl are now number two in Breakfast. However, for Nine Radio this week it\u2019s all about Ray Hadley, who will be ending his career on a high when he switches off his mic for the final time tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\">\n<table class=\"has-fixed-layout\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>COMMERCIAL RADIO SHARE<\/strong><\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>TOTAL RADIO CUME<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>15.6<br \/>\n(4 markets)<\/strong><\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>1.823\u00a0million<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>listeners each week<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong>STREAMING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nine Radio is the nation\u2019s indisputable go-to destination for live audio streaming, showcasing a dominant\u00a0<strong>commercial streaming share of 27.3 and cume audience of 425,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sydney\u2019s 2GB and Melbourne\u2019s 3AW are on top, with commercial streaming shares of 31.8 and 27.2, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Breakfast powerhouses Ross and Russ are No.1 in Melbourne with an impressive 45.2 share, and Ben Fordham solidifies his No.1 spot at 2GB with a 16.3 share.<\/p>\n<p>In Mornings, 3AW\u2019s Tom Elliott is No.1 with 27.1, and Ray Hadley ends his legendary career on 2GB as No.1 with a 33.2 commercial streaming share.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Greg Byrnes<\/strong>, said: \u201cYearly growth across the network of almost 16% across is extraordinary.
