{"id":2850,"date":"2026-09-20T08:41:20","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T22:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radioindustrynews.com.au\/?p=2850"},"modified":"2026-09-20T08:41:20","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T22:41:20","slug":"triple-m-announces-2026-afl-grand-final-call-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioindustrynews.com.au\/index.php\/2026\/09\/20\/triple-m-announces-2026-afl-grand-final-call-team\/","title":{"rendered":"TRIPLE M ANNOUNCES 2026 AFL GRAND FINAL CALL TEAM"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sca.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/LiSTNR_Triple-M_Grand-Final-call-team-1200x628-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some sounds define the last Saturday in September: footy conversations beginning from sunrise, the roar of the crowd as the national anthem reaches its final note, and Triple M\u2019s iconic call taking fans through every spine-tingling moment of the AFL Grand Final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the 2026 AFL Grand Final just over a week away, Triple M \u2013 Australia\u2019s number one AFL audio broadcaster* \u2013 has unveiled its expert Grand Final commentary team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leading Triple M\u2019s Grand Final commentary will be <strong>Jack Heverin<\/strong>, marking his debut AFL Grand Final call for the network, alongside <strong>Mark \u2018Howie\u2019 Howard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since joining Triple M in 2021, Heverin has established himself as one of the network\u2019s leading football voices, heard across <em>The Thursday Rub<\/em>, <em>Deadset Legends<\/em>, and AFL and cricket commentary, while Howard brings more than two decades of experience calling some of Australian sport\u2019s biggest moments, including AFL Grand Finals and major cricket series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking on <a href=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/rush-hour-melbourne\/triple-ms-the-rush-hour-with-jb-billy-jack-heverin-talks-afl-grand-final-commentary-debut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Rush Hour with JB &amp; Billy<\/em><\/a><em>,<\/em> Triple M commentatorJack Heverin reflected on his AFL Grand Final commentary debut: \u201cI got the phone call to let me know I\u2019d be commentating the Grand Final a couple of weeks ago and it genuinely did take my breath away.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve listened to this network forever, and from the moment I decided I wanted to work in this industry I\u2019ve always said that I wanted to get to Triple M. I love this place and to get to call the Grand Final for Triple M is an unbelievable honour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heverin and Howard will be joined by an expert commentary team featuring AFLW pioneer and All-Australian <strong>Kate McCarthy<\/strong>, four-time premiership player and 2022 Norm Smith Medallist <strong>Isaac Smith<\/strong>, and two-time All-Australian <strong>Nathan Brown<\/strong>, with <strong>Ash Chua<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Roberts<\/strong> providing stats and boundary coverage respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Sydney and Fremantle, and Brisbane and Hawthorn, set to battle this weekend for a place in the Grand Final, Triple M will build towards the big day with wall-to-wall footy coverage across the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before the first bounce, Triple M will bring the excitement of Grand Final week to Richmond\u2019s iconic Corner Hotel when <em>Triple M Fest<\/em> returns on Thursday, 24 September \u2013 or \u2018Grand Final Eve Eve\u2019 \u2013 for its second year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event begins from 6am with a live broadcast of <strong><em>Mick in the Morning with Roo, Titus &amp; Rosie<\/em><\/strong> and a performance from <strong>The Superjesus<\/strong>, before <strong><em>The Rush Hour with JB &amp; Billy<\/em><\/strong> takes over from 4pm alongside <strong>You Am I<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Legendary rock band <strong>Bush<\/strong> will headline the night, taking the stage following the conclusion of the \u2018Grand Final Eve Eve\u2019 broadcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Triple M\u2019s Grand Final week will also feature its biggest footy shows, bringing fans the build-up, analysis and atmosphere throughout the week, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Special Grand Final Thursday Rub<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 from 6pm: Dale Thomas and Jack Heverin,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Saturday Rub<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 live from the MCG from 12pm: James Brayshaw, Billy Brownless, Damian Barrett and Bernie Vince,\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Sunday Rub<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 from 12pm: Leigh Montagna, Mitch Cleary, Dale Thomas and Steve Johnson.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ewan Giles<\/strong>, SCA Head of Sports Content \u2013 Audio, said: \u201cI can\u2019t remember Triple M having a bigger build up than what we\u2019ve got planned for next week. There\u2019s nothing quite like the energy of AFL Grand Final week, and we\u2019ll be there with wall-to-wall coverage across Triple M.
