The Community Radio Broadcasting Codes of Practice (2025)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0are now available and will take effect from 1 July 2025.\u00a0Developed by the community broadcasting sector in consultation with\u00a0<\/span>the Australian Communications and Media Authority<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(ACMA), the Codes reflect our collective commitment to\u00a0high standards\u00a0and strong community representation.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>The\u00a0Codes\u00a0cover essential areas\u00a0of practice\u00a0such as governance, diversity, emergency broadcasting, sponsorship, news and journalistic content, and First Nations\u00a0engagement.<\/p>\n

<\/span>All stations, regardless of CBAA membership status or their governing principles, are\u00a0obligated\u00a0to understand and follow the Codes of Practice.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Until 1 July 2025\u00a0your stations\u00a0follow the current Codes, which can be found\u00a0<\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>From 1 July onward follow the Community Radio Broadcasting Codes of Practice (2025), which can be found\u00a0<\/span>here<\/span><\/a>. Use the time from now until 1 July to\u00a0familiarise\u00a0yourself and your team with the Codes using the resources listed here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Online learning<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

The CBAA has launched a free, self-paced course to support volunteers, presenters, board members and station managers in understanding their obligations under the\u00a0Codes and how they apply to daily operations.\u00a0It only takes 20-30 minutes to complete\u00a0and there is a certificate upon completion.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Printed copies<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Each licensed community radio station will receive\u00a0three\u00a0printed\u00a0copies\u00a0of the Codes. If your station has not received\u00a0copies\u00a0by\u00a0July\u00a0or\u00a0you\u00a0require\u00a0extras, email\u00a0<\/span>support@cbaa.org.au<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
