{"id":1222,"date":"2025-03-27T10:20:26","date_gmt":"2025-03-27T10:20:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.radioindustrynews.com.au\/?p=1222"},"modified":"2025-03-27T10:20:26","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T10:20:26","slug":"nine-radio-on-top-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radioindustrynews.com.au\/index.php\/2025\/03\/27\/nine-radio-on-top-in-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Nine Radio on top in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-41013b65399ead2ae6becdaa14c2ca7d\"><strong>TOTAL RADIO\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a sensational start to the 2025 ratings year for Nine Radio, with\u00a0<strong>Sydney\u2019s 2GB<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Melbourne\u2019s 3AW<\/strong>\u00a0dominating their respective markets in the year\u2019s first GfK Survey.<\/p>\n<p>2GB has reclaimed its position as\u00a0<strong>Sydney\u2019s No.1 station, delivering a 11.6 share<\/strong>\u00a0and outstanding results across all key timeslots.\u00a0<strong>Ben Fordham Live is the clear No.1 in Breakfast with a dominant 14.4 share,<\/strong>\u00a0reinforcing the show\u2019s status as the city\u2019s most trusted source for news, talk, and opinion. In his first survey in Mornings,\u00a0<strong>Mark Levy<\/strong>\u00a0knocked it out of the park to claim the\u00a0<strong>No.1 spot with a 13.5 share<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>3AW has surged even further ahead as Melbourne\u2019s top radio station, delivering an incredible\u00a0<strong>16.8 share, up a significant 3.2 points.<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft<\/strong>\u00a0have further cemented their leadership in Breakfast, achieving a\u00a0<strong>21.3 share (up 1.3)\u00a0<\/strong>and setting a high bar for the day.\u00a0<strong>Tom Elliott<\/strong>\u00a0followed suit, commanding the\u00a0<strong>No.1 spot in Mornings with 19.0 (up 3.4)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Greg Byrnes, National Content Manager, Nine Radio<\/strong>, said: \u201cThese are stunning results and lay the foundations for another dominant year for our live and local content. We\u2019ve had big audience gains right across the network, particularly in 25-54s.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201c3AW is clearly the heartbeat of Melbourne. Today\u2019s 16.8 share is the station\u2019s best survey 1 result in over 15 years and we congratulate the entire team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Sydney, for 2GB to be number one after major line up changes is also remarkable. Other strong performers included\u00a0<strong>3AW Mornings with Tom Elliott<\/strong>\u00a0(67,000 listeners),\u00a0<strong>3<\/strong><strong>AW Breakfast with Ross and Russel<\/strong>\u00a0(58,000 listeners), and the newly launched\u00a0<strong>2GB Mornings with Mark Levy<\/strong>, already attracting 39,000 listeners per month.<\/p>\n<p>Nine Talk Radio\u2019s focus on live and local content continues to resonate, with more than\u00a0<strong>702,000 listeners tuning into Nine Radio catch-up podcasts in February \u2013 an 11% increase year-on-year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Nine\u2019s original podcasts across News, Sport, and Lifestyle now reach<strong>\u00a0over 725,000 monthly listeners (up 27% YoY).<\/strong>\u00a0Standout titles include\u00a0<strong><em>Somehow Related<\/em>\u00a0with Dave O\u2019Neil and Glenn Robbins<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><em>Better Than Yesterday<\/em>\u00a0with Osher G\u00fcnsberg<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong><em>Prime Time<\/em>\u00a0with Bec Wilson<\/strong>, which made its debut on the Australian Podcast Ranker.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Mia Stern, Head of Podcasts and Digital Content<\/strong>, said: \u201cThe encouraging growth of our catch-up and original podcast listenership reflects the power of Nine Radio\u2019s trusted voices and our commitment to delivering local stories that matter.
