We provide opportunities for young Australians to broadcast their views on issues and ideas that matter to them. SYN\u2019s staff support and develop the strength of our volunteer base who are the creators and owners of all content across our various platforms. All volunteers are under the age of 26.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about SYN here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.syn.org.au\/about-us\">https:\/\/www.syn.org.au\/about-us<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>SYN FM (90.7 FM &amp; DAB+ digital radio)<\/strong><br \/>\nSYN operates a full-time community broadcasting licence and can be heard throughout Melbourne and Geelong on 90.7 FM and on DAB+. Our broadcast also streams live on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.syn.org.au\/\">our website<\/a>, and on the <a href=\"https:\/\/communityradio.plus\/\">Community Radio Plus<\/a> app.<br \/>\n<strong>1. JOB SPECIFICATION<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Primary Focus<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Finance Administrator is responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping and administrative tasks. Including payroll, coordinating contracts and paperwork, banking, and ensuring compliance with relevant statutory requirements and obligations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Managing account payables\/receivables<\/li>\n<li>Processing banking transactions and regular bank reconciliation<\/li>\n<li>Processing payroll, SGC and PAYG<\/li>\n<li>Working with external accountant to ensure ATO obligations are met including IAS\/BAS<\/li>\n<li>Working with the General Manager\/Treasurer to complete EOFY processes<\/li>\n<li>Maintain reliable and accurate financial records<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining accurate asset register<\/li>\n<li>Filing and archiving of financial records<\/li>\n<li>Preparing journal entries<\/li>\n<li>Work with General Manager to complete half-yearly budget planning processes<\/li>\n<li>Organise and run quarterly financial reviews with Management Team and Treasure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities shared with all SYN staff<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adhere to SYN\u2019s values<\/li>\n<li>Maintain a high standard of work practices and ensure integrity, respect and confidentiality whilst carrying out core tasks<\/li>\n<li>Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers to achieve the organisation\u2019s objectives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SYN as an employer offers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A culture of openness, that encourages you to ask questions, try new things and take risks &#8211; space to makes mistakes and learn<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility with ongoing personal appointments during work hours<\/li>\n<li>A professional development budget for each staff member<\/li>\n<li>Unlimited leave for COVID testing and vaccination appointments<\/li>\n<li>Unlimited paid professional development hours, we encourage staff to upskill and take opportunities that will further their career development, paying them to do so<\/li>\n<li>Flexible working from home and office policies<\/li>\n<li>A work laptop and modern office space based in Melbourne\u2019s CBD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Essential*<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Experience operating Xero (or comparable accounting software)<\/li>\n<li>Advanced level of understanding of bookkeeping\/accounting<\/li>\n<li>Experience in managing payroll<\/li>\n<li>High level organisational skills and attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision<\/li>\n<li>Well-developed excel skills<\/li>\n<li>Emotional intelligence and tact when working on sensitive subjects<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Desirable<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An understanding of the non-profit and\/or social enterprise space<\/li>\n<li>Experience reporting to a board of governance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*Applicants who fill most, but not all, of the essential selection criteria are still encouraged to apply.
