{"id":891,"date":"2024-11-21T08:18:56","date_gmt":"2024-11-21T08:18:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.radioindustrynews.com.au\/?p=891"},"modified":"2024-11-21T08:18:56","modified_gmt":"2024-11-21T08:18:56","slug":"abc-radio-national-in-2025-always-curious","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/radioindustrynews.com.au\/index.php\/2024\/11\/21\/abc-radio-national-in-2025-always-curious\/","title":{"rendered":"ABC Radio National in 2025: Always Curious"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2025 a reimagined ABC Radio National will be at the centre of big conversations and create a space where audiences can expand their worldview while engaging with the world\u2019s best thinkers.<\/p>\n<p>Award-winning journalist Sally Sara will lead the day on\u00a0<em>Radio National Breakfast<\/em>\u00a0joined by political correspondent Melissa Clarke, business correspondent Peter Ryan and news presenter Luke Siddham Dundon.<\/p>\n<p>Fran Kelly will make her return to Radio National in a 1-hour weekday evenings program\u00a0<em>The Radio National Hour\u00a0<\/em>from 6-7pm. The program will focus on the big news stories shaping our world.<\/p>\n<p>Fran said: \u201cI&#8217;m thrilled to back on Radio National in a bigger way next year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new show is a chance to go deeper into the news of our time, speaking to the best thinkers and creators and opinion shapers every day. And it&#8217;s an election year&#8230; I can&#8217;t wait!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Current Drive host Andy Park will remain part of the network and become the presenter of flagship current affairs program\u00a0<em>The World Today<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Joining Fran and Sally on ABC Radio National next year is Nick Bryant as host of\u00a0<em>Saturday Extra<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>ABC Radio National Manager Dina Rosendorff said: \u201cIn 2025 ABC Radio National\u00a0will be at the heart of national and global conversations and reestablish itself as a trusted source of thoughtful analysis and deep thinking.<\/p>\n<p>2025 will see the Network go even further to cultivate a space for profound insight and meaningful conversations with an expanded range of programs and voices across science, technology, the arts, culture, history, religion and set the agenda in current affairs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRadio National will cement itself as the \u2018go-to\u2019 space where ideas spark, perspectives broaden and inquiring minds find their home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new year sees an emphasis on returning to a live, flow format through the addition of Cassie McCullagh and Hilary Harper as the\u00a0<em>Voices of Radio National<\/em>\u00a0who will thread Radio National\u2019s programming together throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>Hilary and Cassie will guide audiences through the live schedule across news and current affairs programs into our unmatched range of specialist content.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also in 2025, Radio National will expand its history offering with new global and Australian historical series and a landmark history show hosted by Australia\u2019s favourite history buff, Marc Fennell.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Glover is leaving the ABC at the end of the year, but his popular show\u00a0<em>Thank God It\u2019s Friday<\/em>! will remain, presented by Charlie Pickering and heard on Radio National, ABC Radio Sydney and ABC Radio Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Weekend of Books returns in October as\u00a0<em>ABC Radio National\u2019s Top 100 Books,\u00a0<\/em>a countdown in<em>\u00a0<\/em>which audiences can vote for their favourite books of the 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0Century. As always, the event will showcase authors around the world talking about their new releases.<\/p>\n<p>We are adding to our roster of specialist content with some of the brightest minds in their field.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Burrowes and Vivienne Kelly host a new program,\u00a0<em>MediaLand,<\/em>\u00a0examining the media landscape in Australia and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>In news to delight the scientifically minded,\u00a0<em>Lab Notes,<\/em>\u00a0presented by Belinda Smith will cast a lens on fresh scientific\u00a0discoveries\u00a0and other things we didn\u2019t know last week \u2013 from major breakthroughs to\u00a0surprising curiosities.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Martin hosts a new business program,\u00a0<em>The Economy, Stupid<\/em>, and Jonathan Green sinks his teeth into all things food with\u00a0<em>Every Bite<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Tegan Taylor becomes the new host of\u00a0<em>Life Matters<\/em>\u00a0with Beverley Wang continuing to present Friday\u2019s talkback program. Dr Preeya Alexander joins Norman Swan on\u00a0<em>The Health Report<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>David Marr continues as host of\u00a0<em>Late Night Live<\/em>.
