{"id":76,"date":"2024-06-03T13:38:28","date_gmt":"2024-06-03T13:38:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.radioindustrynews.com.au\/?p=76"},"modified":"2024-06-03T13:38:28","modified_gmt":"2024-06-03T13:38:28","slug":"acma-allocates-community-radio-broadcasting-licence-in-millicent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/radioindustrynews.com.au\/index.php\/2024\/06\/03\/acma-allocates-community-radio-broadcasting-licence-in-millicent\/","title":{"rendered":"ACMA allocates community radio broadcasting licence in Millicent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has allocated a five-year community radio broadcasting licence in the Millicent region of South Australia to Millicent Community Access Radio (MILCAR).<\/p>\n<p>In December 2023 the ACMA called for applications for the Millicent community broadcasting licence, which uses the 107.7 FM frequency.<\/p>\n<p>MILCAR has provided the 5THE FM service on a temporary licence since June 2023 and was the sole applicant for the five-year licence.<\/p>\n<p>ACMA member Creina Chapman said in its application MILCAR made a commitment to build a sustainable on-air service with strong governance structures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunity radio provides an important platform for local voices and issues. Over the last ten months MILCAR has demonstrated that it is committed to the Millicent community and is providing local programming on the 5THE FM service,\u201d Ms Chapman said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMILCAR currently has a healthy membership base and is looking to increase volunteer participation in the <button class=\"a-tooltip active-tooltip\" data-tippy-content=\"An installation or thing that is, or includes:\n1 or more radiocommunications transmitters, and\/or\n1 or more radiocommunications receivers.\nIt also includes an installation or thing, artificial or natural, that reflects or receives radio emissions.\n\">station<\/button>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to MILCAR delivering on the ambitions set out in its application for more local content and community participation in the 5THE FM service,\u201d Ms Chapman said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has allocated a five-year community radio broadcasting licence in the Millicent region of South Australia to Millicent Community Access Radio (MILCAR).
