{"id":755,"date":"2024-10-16T07:48:31","date_gmt":"2024-10-16T07:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.radioindustrynews.com.au\/?p=755"},"modified":"2024-10-16T07:48:31","modified_gmt":"2024-10-16T07:48:31","slug":"the-acma-has-approved-the-community-radio-broadcasting-codes-of-practice-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/radioindustrynews.com.au\/index.php\/2024\/10\/16\/the-acma-has-approved-the-community-radio-broadcasting-codes-of-practice-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"The ACMA has approved the Community Radio Broadcasting Codes of Practice 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\" data-uw-rm-lang=\"false\">The\u00a0revised Community Radio Broadcasting Codes of Practice (2025)\u00a0have been\u00a0registered\u00a0by the Australian Media and Communications Authority\u00a0(ACMA).\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<br data-uw-rm-sr=\"\" \/><br data-uw-rm-sr=\"\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\" data-uw-rm-lang=\"false\">The new\u00a0Community\u00a0Radio\u00a0Broadcasting Codes will\u00a0commence\u00a0on 1 July 2025. The existing Codes will remain active until that time.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\" data-uw-rm-lang=\"false\"><br data-uw-rm-sr=\"\" \/>The 2025 Codes consist of 10 Codes, adapted from\u00a0the\u00a0current Codes. All changes made were designed to make the Codes easier for stations to put into practice and understand. We are grateful for the input and feedback from our sector throughout the review process.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\" data-uw-rm-lang=\"false\"><br data-uw-rm-sr=\"\" \/>The new Codes are the outcome of a lengthy\u00a0consultation across our sector to ensure they\u00a0remain\u00a0relevant and meet community standards in an environment of changing media.\u00a0The 2025 Codes\u00a0received\u00a0overwhelming support\u00a0with\u00a0over\u00a098%\u00a0of responses from community broadcasters endorsing the new Codes.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\" data-uw-rm-lang=\"false\"><br data-uw-rm-sr=\"\" \/>From 1 July 2025, the\u00a0revised Codes (2025) will replace the current Codes\u00a0(2008).\u00a0Stations should continue\u00a0using the current 2008 Codes in the meantime.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\" data-uw-rm-lang=\"false\"><br data-uw-rm-sr=\"\" \/>The CBAA will support stations to ensure staff and volunteers understand the changes before they come into effect on July 1, 2025. We are already working on training and guidance materials to\u00a0support\u00a0all broadcasters understand and\u00a0comply with\u00a0the Codes.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<br data-uw-rm-sr=\"\" \/><br data-uw-rm-sr=\"\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\" data-uw-rm-lang=\"false\">The new Codes will be accompanied by practical easy-to-use guidance material to help every station and broadcaster to understand\u00a0how\u00a0to\u00a0comply with\u00a0the new Codes.
