Nine\u2019s talk radio stations and 9Podcasts have taken home a record 15 awards at the 2024 Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) held in Sydney this evening, including the prestigious award for\u00a0Station of the Year<\/em>\u00a0for Sydney\u2019s 2GB.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The gold winning charge was led by\u00a02GB Breakfast presenter\u00a0<\/strong>Ben Fordham,\u00a0<\/strong>who was awarded\u00a0Individual Talent of the Year (Metro), Best Current Affairs Presenter (National), Best Talk Presenter (Metro)<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 for the second consecutive year \u2013 as well as\u00a0Best News Event Coverage<\/em>, alongside\u00a0Mark Levy<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Will Bottom<\/strong>\u00a0for their breaking reporting of the Bondi Junction Attacks.<\/p>\n

For an incredible second year in a row, 2GB\u2019s\u00a0Clinton Maynard<\/strong>\u00a0was recognised with the\u00a0Brian White Award for Excellence in Journalism<\/em>, and the Executive Producer of 2GB\u2019s Ben Fordham Live,\u00a0Liam McGuire<\/strong>\u00a0was named\u00a0Best Radio Show Producer (Metro).\u00a0<\/em>3AW\u2019s David Armstrong\u00a0<\/strong>was awarded\u00a0Best News Presenter AM (Metro).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The outstanding quality of 2GB\u2019s content right across the week was recognised with Content Manager,\u00a0Luke Davis<\/strong>\u00a0taking out the award for\u00a0Best\/Program\/Content Director (Metro).\u00a0<\/em>The station\u2019s creativity was also acknowledged with the award for\u00a0Best Station Produced Commercial \u2013 Single (Metro)\u00a0<\/em>for client Fisiocrem by\u00a0Nikki Price<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Jamie Lechner.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The powerhouse investigative podcast from\u00a09News<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a09Podcasts<\/strong>,\u00a0Hannah\u2019s Story<\/em><\/strong>, was honoured with its fourth award, taking out\u00a0Podcast of the Year (National)<\/em>, with producer\u00a0Jess Lodge<\/strong>\u00a0also winning the gong for\u00a0Best Podcast Producer (National).<\/em>\u00a0Hannah\u2019s Story<\/em>\u00a0has previously won the Mid-Year Walkley Award for Excellence in Reporting on Violence Against Women, the Kennedy Award for Outstanding Podcast, as well as the prestigious Gold Award at the New York Festival Radio Awards.<\/p>\n

The award for\u00a0Best Podcast by a Radio Show (National)<\/em>\u00a0went to\u00a0Perth\u2019s 6PR<\/strong>\u00a0for its series\u00a0The Reporter True Stories.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In a poignant moment, the late\u00a0David \u201cThirsty\u201d Morrow<\/strong>\u00a0was honoured posthumously for\u00a0Best Sports Presenter (Metro)<\/em>, celebrating his lasting impact on sports broadcasting. His family accepted the award on his behalf. Morrow\u2019s incredible 52 year career, and deep knowledge and love of sports earned him a special place in the hearts of listeners, and this award serves as a fitting tribute to his remarkable career.<\/p>\n

Nine Radio\u2019s leading sports coverage was further recognised with\u00a0The\u00a0<\/strong>Continuous Call Team<\/strong>\u00a0taking home\u00a0Best Sports Event Coverage (Metro)<\/em>\u00a0for the second year in a row for their coverage of the heartstopping 2023 NRL Grand Final \u2013 Panthers Miracle Comeback.<\/p>\n

Managing Director of Nine Radio,<\/strong>\u00a0Tom Malone<\/strong>\u00a0said, \u201cThis is an incredible result for Nine\u2019s radio and podcast teams. It\u2019s a great testament to the live and local strategy implemented by Greg Byrnes in our radio stations, and the pursuit of engaging and entertaining content by Mia Stern who leads 9Podcasts.
