The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) has announced the appointment of industry leaders Fiona Donovan and Greg Woods to the AFTRS Council.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fiona Donovan<\/span><\/a>, a renowned production designer with a distinguished career spanning over three decades,<\/span>\u00a0has worked on Australian and international feature films including\u00a0<\/span>Christmas Ransom, Ascendant<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Truth<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>The Shallows<\/span><\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Pacific Rim Uprising.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Her television credits include\u00a0<\/span>The Twelve<\/span><\/i>,<\/span>\u00a0Frayed, Back to the Rafters, Between Two Worlds,<\/span><\/i>\u00a0Young Lions<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Crownies<\/span><\/i>, and\u00a0<\/span>Love Child<\/span><\/i>. Fiona\u00a0<\/span>brings a deep passion for storytelling and a commitment to mentoring emerging talent. As a former AFTRS lecturer and industry mentor, Donovan possesses a unique understanding of the School\u2019s mission and the aspirations of students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In announcing Fiona as a Governor General appointment, Arts Minister Tony Burke commented, \u201c Many Australians will already have watched Fiona\u2019s work on the screen. As an industry professional she knows what goes on behind the scenes to create memorable film and television.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fiona has devoted her career to the production and support of Australia\u2019s film and television industry and is a strong champion of the development of original Australian content.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am honoured and thrilled to be selected to join the AFTRS Council,\u201d said Fiona. \u201cI look forward to working with our amazing chair Rachel Perkins and our fellow Council Members\u00a0 as well as the high calibre staff led by Nell Greenwood, and all the talented students. I hope to contribute to the vital and innovative work AFTRS is doing nurturing new talent in the media, arts and entertainment industry.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Greg Woods<\/span><\/a>, CEO of Fremantle Australia, brings extensive industry experience and a proven track record in strategic leadership to the Council. Throughout his tenure at Fremantle Greg has played an integral role in top-rating and iconic programs such as\u00a0<\/span>Neighbours<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Wentworth<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Heartbreak High<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Grand Designs<\/span><\/i>\u00a0as well as the Fremantle unscripted catalogue programs. Appointed to Council as well as AFTRS\u2019\u00a0<\/span>Finance, Audit & Risk Management (FARM) Committee,<\/span>\u00a0which he will chair, Greg\u2019s deep understanding of management and business performance across a global screen landscape will be invaluable as AFTRS continues to evolve and adapt to the changing industry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
