{"id":393,"date":"2024-07-26T06:44:34","date_gmt":"2024-07-26T06:44:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.radioindustrynews.com.au\/?p=393"},"modified":"2024-07-26T06:44:34","modified_gmt":"2024-07-26T06:44:34","slug":"nine-radio-and-9podcasts-smash-record-with-most-acra-finalists-in-its-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/radioindustrynews.com.au\/index.php\/2024\/07\/26\/nine-radio-and-9podcasts-smash-record-with-most-acra-finalists-in-its-history\/","title":{"rendered":"Nine Radio and 9Podcasts smash record with most ACRA finalists in its history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-nine-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7125be172026245ff50fe195c4d0f57b\"><strong>Nine Radio and 9Podcasts have broken their own record with an astounding 41 finalist nominations across 20 categories in the 35th annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs), announced today.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From breaking news to investigative journalism, storytelling, production, sports coverage, and diversity and inclusion (both on and off-air), these nominations highlight Nine Radio\u2019s deep connection with its audiences and the triumph of its comprehensive audio strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the charge are 2GB\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Ben Fordham, Ray Hadley and Chris O\u2019Keefe\u00a0<\/strong>and 3AW\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Neil Mitchell\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013\u00a0all finalists for both\u00a0<em>Best Talk Presenter\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Best Current Affairs Presenter.\u00a0<\/em><strong>Tom Elliott\u00a0<\/strong>is also nominated for\u00a0<em>Best Talk Presenter.\u00a0<\/em>Fordham and Hadley are also contenders for\u00a0<em>Individual Talent of the Year<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In a nod to the new talent Nine\u2019s stations continue to develop and discover,\u00a02GB\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Chris O\u2019Keefe<\/strong>\u00a0and 3AW\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Jacqui Felgate<\/strong>\u00a0are in the running for\u00a0<em>Best New On-Air Talent<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a big year for Sydney\u2019s top station,\u00a0<strong>2GB<\/strong>, which is vying for\u00a0<em>Station of the Year<\/em>, Content Manager\u00a0<strong>Luke Davis\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0<em>Best Content Director,<\/em>\u00a0with Fordham,\u00a0<strong>Mark Levy\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Will Bottom\u00a0<\/strong>and Hadley also nominated for\u00a0<em>Best News Event Coverage<\/em>\u00a0for their reports on the Bondi Junction Attacks and the Sydney Car Pursuit, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In sport, the late\u00a0<strong>David Morrow, Mark Levy, Anthony Hudson,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Shane McInnes<\/strong>\u00a0are all nominated in the\u00a0<em>Best Sports Presenter<\/em>\u00a0category, while the\u00a0<strong>Continuous Call Team\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>coverage of 2023 NRL Grand Final is a finalist for\u00a0<em>Best Sports Event Coverage<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Nine Radio\u2019s journalists dominate the\u00a0<em>Best News Presenter\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Brian White\u00a0<\/em>awards, with\u00a0<strong>David Armstrong, Gail Watson, Rhiannon Soliman-Marron, Ben Fordham, Clinton Maynard\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Zac de Silva\u00a0<\/strong>all finalists.<\/p>\n<p>9Podcasts\u2019 award-winning, critically acclaimed and hugely popular series,\u00a0<strong>Hannah\u2019s Story<\/strong>, adds to its accolades with nominations for\u00a0<em>Podcast of the Year, Best Documentary Audio<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Best Podcast Producer\u00a0<\/em>for\u00a0<strong>Jess Lodge<\/strong>. Producers\u00a0<strong>Sam Stove<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Matty White<\/strong>\u00a0also earned\u00a0<em>Best Podcast Producer\u00a0<\/em>nominations.<\/p>\n<p>Nine Radio\u2019s successful\u00a0<strong>internship program<\/strong>\u00a0was also nominated in the special category for\u00a0<em>Diversity and Inclusion<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Nine Radio Managing Director, Tom Malone,<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cThis is an outstanding result for Nine\u2019s radio stations and podcast teams.
