This year the week falls between 7 and 14 July, and the CBAA wants to acknowledge the its theme and fill you in on what we\u2019re doing to mark the week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">Blak, Loud and Proud<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">This year\u2019s theme,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naidoc.org.au\/about\/naidoc-theme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud<\/span><\/span><\/a><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0reflects the power of media of all kinds, including community media, to preserve and promote language and culture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201c&#8221;Blak, Loud and Proud&#8221; encapsulates the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity, empowering us to stand tall in our heritage and assert our place in the modern world. This theme calls for a reclamation of narratives, an amplification of voices, and an unwavering commitment to justice and equality. It invites all Australians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are fully valued and respected.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">51 First Nations<\/span>\u00a0organisations provide 158 community broadcasting services covering our capital cities to our most remote regional areas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">These services connect community to language, culture, community\u00a0<\/span>voices and music. Australians from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background are 37% more likely than the general population to listen to community radio.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">First Nations Place Names on Community Radio Plus<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-default\" title=\"3KND CR Plus Pic\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cbaa.org.au\/sites\/default\/files\/media\/3KND%20CR%20Plus%20Pic%20Large.png\" alt=\"3KND CR Plus Pic\" width=\"602\" height=\"602\" data-delta=\"2\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">W<\/span>e are working to include these place names in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/communityradio.plus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">Community Radio Plus<\/span><\/span><\/a><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0app.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Stations that have fed back to us about appropriate names include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">Ngaarda Media &#8211; Ngarluma ngurra (Roebourne)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">3KND &#8211; Wurundjeri (Melbourne)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">RadioNGM &#8211; Irruntyju (Wingellina)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">Triple A &#8211; Meanjin (Brisbane)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">CAAMA Radio &#8211; Mparntwe (Alice Springs)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">BBM 98.7 FM &#8211; Gimuy (Cairns)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">Over the coming weeks\u00a0<\/span>you\u2019ll see these names being introduced to the app. Not all broadcasting areas have corresponding names, and we want to be respectful of local conditions, so if you\u2019re a broadcaster in a region that thinks a name should be included, or changed, please let us know by emailing\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:onlineservices@cbaa.org.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">onlineservices@cbaa.org.au<\/span><\/span><\/a><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">The Local Source \u2013 NAIDOC Launch<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-default\" title=\"The Local Source\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cbaa.org.au\/sites\/default\/files\/media\/FINAL.png\" alt=\"The Local Source\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\" data-delta=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">The AMRAP Radio Show has been a fixture on the Community Radio Network for several years, bringing a\u00a0<\/span>roundup of the latest in Australian music to community radio audiences.<\/p>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">We\u2019re<\/span>\u00a0excited to announce that the AMRAP Radio Show is becoming The Local Source, better capturing the show\u2019s goal of amplifying local music so that broadcasters and listeners alike know what they\u2019re hearing.<\/p>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">The first episode of The Local Source airs on Wednesday, 10 July on the Community Radio Network. To mark NAIDOC\u00a0<\/span>Week it will feature\u00a0<span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">Muruwari musician Dobby selecting some of his favourite First Nations artists from\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/amrap.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">amrap.org.au<\/a><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0as well as discussing his new album, WARRANGU; River Story.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">And while\u00a0<\/span>you\u2019re in the NAIDOC spirit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/amrap.org.au\/article\/naidoc-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">check out AMRAP\u2019s 2024 NAIDOC playlist<\/a><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\">If\u00a0<\/span>you&#8217;re a subscriber to the Community Radio Network who wants to air the show, The Local Source will be broadcast via the Community Radio Network on Wednesdays at 9pm AEST.
