Call for submissions: 2024 Annual Compliance Review<\/h4>\n

In line with each Collecting Society\u2019s obligations as a participant of the Code of Conduct for Collecting Societies, compliance with the Code\u2019s standards of conduct is the subject of an annual compliance review.<\/p>\n

The Code Reviewer is now calling for interested parties to make submissions about compliance or non-compliance with the Code.<\/p>\n

Submissions should be made in writing to the Code Reviewer by no later than\u00a031 July 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

About the Code of Conduct for Copyright Collecting Societies<\/h4>\n

The Code of Conduct provides a voluntary framework of best practice for copyright collecting societies, like APRA AMCOS. The code was developed and adopted by Australian copyright collecting societies in 2002. The most recent update came into effect on 20 May 2022.<\/p>\n

We submit an annual compliance report which is reviewed by an independent Code Reviewer.<\/p>\n

Copyright Collecting Societies Code of Conduct Call for Submissions 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each of the copyright collecting societies, Australasian Performing Right Association Limited (\u201cAPRA<\/strong>\u201d), Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society Limited (\u201cAMCOS<\/strong>\u201d), Phonographic Performance Company of Australia Limited (\u201cPPCA<\/strong>\u201d), Copyright Agency Limited (\u201cCopyright Agency<\/strong>\u201d), Audio-Visual Copyright Society Limited (\u201cScreenrights<\/strong>\u201d), Australian Writers\u2019 Guild Authorship Collecting Society Limited (\u201cAWGACS\u201d) and Australian Screen Directors Authorship Collecting Society Limited (\u201cASDACS\u201d), subscribes to a code of conduct. In its original form, the Code came into effect in July 2002. The most recent update came into effect on\u00a020 May 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A copy of the Code is available on each Society\u2019s website or from the\u00a0Code of Conduct for Copyright Collecting Societies<\/em>\u00a0website\u00a0www.copyrightcodeofconduct.org.au\/code<\/a>\u00a0and can be downloaded or, if requested, a copy can be supplied by post.<\/p>\n

Compliance by participating collecting societies with the Code\u2019s standards of conduct is the subject of an independent annual review. The Code Reviewer for this purpose is former Federal Court judge and former President of the Copyright Tribunal of Australia, The Hon Kevin Lindgren AM, QC. His current task is to review the Societies\u2019 compliance with the Code during the period\u00a01 July 2023 to 30 June 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Code allows for interested parties to make submissions to the Code Reviewer concerning a collecting society\u2019s compliance or non-compliance with the Code. If you wish to make a submission,\u00a0please inform the Code Review Secretariat<\/strong>\u00a0at the address above or by email (codereviewer@gmail.com<\/a>). The Secretariat will send you details about the procedure for making a submission.<\/p>\n

The closing date for completing the submission process is\u00a031 July 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
