ABC Classic<\/strong> is thrilled to announce that entries for the ABC Young Performers Awards<\/strong> have officially opened, marking the long-awaited return of one of Australia\u2019s leading competitions for classical musicians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Returning to the ABC <\/strong>in 2026 as part of ABC Classic\u2019s 50th<\/strong> anniversary celebrations, the ABC Young Performers Awards<\/strong> have long been a cornerstone of Australia\u2019s classical music landscape. First established in 1944<\/a>, the Awards have helped launch the careers of many of the nation\u2019s most celebrated classical artists including Amy Dickson<\/strong>, Andrea Lam<\/strong>, Simon Tedeschi<\/strong>, Emily Sun<\/strong> and Eliza Shephard<\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 <\/strong>edition of the ABC Young Performers Awards<\/strong> ushers in a refreshed era for the iconic competition. Open to performers aged 31 and under, the Awards provide a national platform for young artists to launch their professional careers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Across three high-stakes rounds, the competition will spotlight Australia\u2019s most exceptional young instrumentalists as they demonstrate their artistry, technical brilliance and musical expression before a distinguished, multi-disciplinary judging panel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The journey will culminate in a nationally broadcast Grand Final<\/strong> on ABC Classic<\/strong>, ABC TV<\/strong>, and ABC iview<\/strong> in November 2026. The winner of the ABC Young Performers Awards<\/strong> will receive a $40,000 prize to help develop their career, the opportunity to record a solo studio album under the ABC Classic<\/strong> label, and the title of Young Performer of the Year for 2026<\/strong>. Runner up prizes will also be awarded. All cash prizes are supported by the Triffitt Bequest, courtesy of Symphony Services Australia, and the ABC, head here <\/a>for prize information.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
