{"id":140,"date":"2024-06-04T20:04:59","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T20:04:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.radioindustrynews.com.au\/?p=140"},"modified":"2024-06-04T20:04:59","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T20:04:59","slug":"gold-medals-for-nine-radio-in-sydney-and-melbourne","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/radioindustrynews.com.au\/index.php\/2024\/06\/04\/gold-medals-for-nine-radio-in-sydney-and-melbourne\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold medals for Nine Radio in Sydney and Melbourne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TOTAL RADIO\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nine\u2019s talk stations have dominated GfK Radio 360 Survey 3 as listeners turn to talk for the big moments and breaking news in their city.\u00a0<strong>Sydney\u2019s 2GB and Melbourne\u2019s 3AW \u2013 the official broadcasters of the Paris Olympic Games \u2013 picked up gold medals, with their respective Breakfast and Morning Shows on top of the dais.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2GB\u2019s Ben Fordham Live is Number 1 in Sydney with a share of 16.6 (up 1.7) and The Ray Hadley Morning Show is Number 1 for the 157th consecutive time \u2013 posting 15.3 (up 1.8).<\/p>\n<p>3AW\u2019s Breakfast with Ross and Russ reigns supreme as the Number 1 show in Melbourne with 20.3 (up 1.7) and Mornings with Tom Elliott also Number 1, with 17.5 (up 0.8). The station also saw increases in all major shifts, including Afternoons and Drive.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Nine Radio\u2019s Head of Content,\u00a0<strong>Greg Byrnes<\/strong>, said: \u201cThese are stunning results for 2GB and 3AW. It\u2019s clear talk radio is setting the agenda, and Sydney and Melbourne rely on our Breakfast and Morning programs to start their day.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cNine Radio has recorded a 10% increase in 25-54s in Survey 3, and with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games now just 52 days away, we\u2019re set for even further growth across the key demographics as Australians tune in for all the iconic sporting moments, live action and colour.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\">\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>COMMERCIAL RADIO SHARE<\/strong><\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>TOTAL RADIO CUME<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>17.6<br \/>\n(4 markets \u2013 up 1.4)<\/strong><\/td>\n<td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\"><strong>1.907 million<br \/>\nlisteners each week (up 4.6%)<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong>STREAMING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nine Radio is the number one destination for live audio listeners across the country<\/strong>, up almost 17% nationally overall, with a commercial streaming share of 28.7 (up 0.5).<\/p>\n<p><strong>2GB and 3AW are Number 1 in overall commercial streaming, with a 30.9 (up 0.4) and 27.4 commercial share\u00a0<\/strong>respectively, as well as across all main standard sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Breakfast and Mornings saw significant listener numbers, with Ross and Russ recording an incredible 46.0 commercial streaming share in 3AW Breakfast, and Ben Fordham out in front with a commercial streaming share of 40.6 (up 3.7).<\/p>\n<p>Mornings at 2GB and 3AW also recorded a Number 1 commercial streaming share with 34.7 (up 0.5) for Ray Hadley and 29.4 (up 1.2) for Tom Elliott, respectively.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Greg Byrnes<\/strong>, said: \u201cOur streaming result today is extraordinary. Radio360 was introduced 12 months ago and we\u2019ve dominated since day one. Sydney\u2019s 2GB catch up podcasts saw a\u00a0<strong>36% YoY increase<\/strong>, with both\u00a0<strong>Ben Fordham Live\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0<strong>Ray Hadley Morning Show<\/strong>\u00a0posting significant listener growth of<strong>\u00a044% YoY<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With footy season well underway, State of Origin just around the corner, and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games only 52 days away, listeners are flocking to Nine Radio\u2019s Wide World of Sports coverage to stay up to date with the latest sporting news and commentary.\u00a0<strong>3AW\u2019s Wide World of Sports\u00a0<\/strong>catch up podcast saw impressive\u00a0<strong>65% YoY growth<\/strong>\u00a0in April, and\u00a0<strong>2GB\u2019s Wide World of Sports\u00a0<\/strong>delivered\u00a0<strong>11% YoY<\/strong>\u00a0listener growth.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Nine\u2019s Head of Podcasts and Digital Content, Mia Stern<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cThe remarkable growth in our catch up radio podcasts is driven by our dedication to delivering high-quality content that resonates with our broad audience.
